Date: 5 Sep 2026 - 12 Sep 2026
Venue: Workshop Room, G/F, Fung Ping Shan Building, UMAG
Maps are never just about finding directions. They also hold memories, wishes, sounds, smells, and the places that matter most to us—even those not found on Google Maps. Through drawing, storytelling, and shared imagination, we will turn ordinary paper and materials into a world with 100 possible stories.
No drawing experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to imagine.
The workshop is inspired by Toshio Iwai’s beloved picture book The House with 100 Stories. The book was created from the everyday experience of his daughter learning to count, transforming a simple moment into a world full of imagination. What might exist behind each floor, room, pathway, or secret door? We will begin with a walk around the University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG) to gather inspiration from everyday life. Participants will reconnect with their surroundings by observing and appreciating the environment, selecting subjects that resonate with them. Together with Maoshan, you will create a personal map.
