Experience the sonic imagination of two of the greatest geniuses of classical music: the universally recognized prodigy, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and George Enescu, who Pablo Casals called “the greatest musical phenomenon since Mozart”. The programme opens with one of Mozart’s best-known piano sonatas and concludes with Enescu’s rarely performed first piano sonata—a masterpiece of great emotional depth, intellectual rigour and tonal range that pushes the boundaries of what is sonically possible on the piano. The sonata celebrates its centennial in 2024.
