Abstract
In his lecture, Dr Harald P Kraemer will provide insights into the philosophical and historical foundations of the UMAG exhibition COUPLET PAIR REBUS. This discussion will include prominent Western thinkers such as Aristotle, Cicero, Leibniz, Kant, Schopenhauer and Wittgenstein, alongside classics from the East such as the Yi Jing and Dao De Jing. Through a comparative analysis with the exhibited works of art, both fundamental similarities and differences will be presented.

Dr Harald P Kraemer, exhibition curator, Curator, University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG), The University of Hong Kong. His interest in Eastern philosophy was sparked during his studies of art history, classical archaeology and history. In his exhibitions, he creates juxtapositions by allowing artworks of diverse origins and techniques to engage in a dialogue with each other.
