Abstract
We live in a society that is constantly chasing after the most recent trends and the newest stimuli. This is also the case when it comes to art exhibitions. In contrast with blockbuster exhibitions that are mere extensions of the art market—relying on excessive name-dropping or aligning with amusement park trends—some exhibitions can challenge us to stop and think. These encounters in the gallery space leave us with a sense of stimulation and enrichment.
Speaker
Dr Harald P. Kraemer, the exhibition curator of COUPLET PAIR REBUS The Principle of Cause and Effect in Art at the University Museum and Art Gallery of the University of Hong Kong, encourages visitors to reflect on exhibitions by questioning their customary viewing habits and by understanding exhibitions as a form of philosophy in four dimensions.
