Designing Jewels: Exhibition Accessibility Program

Date:  1 Sep 2025 - 5 Oct 2025

Overview

In partnership with Beyond Vision International, the University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG), The University of Hong Kong and L’ÉCOLE School of Jewelry Arts are proud to present a tactile exhibition booklet created for Designing Jewels: 200 Years of French Savoir-Faire (1770–1970). The booklet offers visitors with visual impairments or low vision a unique way to explore the creative journey of French jewellery—from initial sketches to finished masterpieces—through carefully crafted tactile graphics, Braille descriptions and audio descriptions (AD) that are designed to accompany selected works in the exhibition.

Where to Get the Book

Tactile booklets are available for visitors wishing to enrich their experience. Upon arrival, booklets can be requested from museum staff. Booklets are limited and distributed for free on a first-come, first-served basis.

Points to Note

Please borrow and return the booklet within UMAG’s opening hours: 9:30am–6:00pm (Tue–Sat) and 1:00pm–6:00pm (Sun).

Audio descriptions (AD) can be accessed by scanning QR codes with smart devices, such as mobile phones or tablets.

Staircases and lifts are available throughout the museum. For safety, visitors with visual impairments are advised to enjoy self-guided tours accompanied by a sighted friend.
