Experience the quiet beauty of Japanese art and craft in our ikebana workshop and collector’s tour. The programme begins with an ikebana flower arrangement workshop, inviting participants to explore the art of seasonal composition and mindful design based on traditional Japanese aesthetics. This will be followed by a guided tour led by a collector with extensive experience in Japanese bamboo baskets. He will offer personal insights and an overview into this refined art.
Instructors: Odile LUNDY and Travis LUNDY
Odile Harroue LUNDY began studying ikebana in the early 1990s. She trained under Takagi-sensei and Fukushima-sensei at the Sogetsu International classes in Tokyo until December 2011.
In 2002, she became a certified teacher and later attained the level of Riji. Since the early 2000s, she has given numerous demonstrations and classes for public institutions and international companies in Japan and Hong Kong. She also participated annually in the Takashimaya Ginza Department Store exhibition, as well as in the Ikebana International exhibition at the Tokyo American Club.
She was featured in a 2008 Japan Times article highlighting foreigners in Japan who have achieved a high level in ikebana and other traditional arts. In 2009, she organised exhibitions for her students, and while living in Hong Kong, she taught ikebana classes once or twice a week for several years in Discovery Bay.
Travis LUNDY is known among collectors and cognoscenti for his passion for the materials, design and forms of Japanese bamboo baskets.
Travis and Odile have been studying and collecting Japanese bamboo baskets since the early 1990s and for the past 15 years they have lent works from their expansive collection to museums in Japan and abroad to support or sponsor exhibitions.
