Date: 25 Jun 2025 - 25 Jun 2025
Join us for two special workshops in relation to the exhibition Bamboo Baskets: Chinese Origins, Japanese Innovations, which also explores the cultural context of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony and the related art of ikebana flower arrangement through the display of bamboo art.
Masahiro Kinoshita, a Certified Master of the Sansai-ryū School in the Samurai Tradition of Tea, will share the art of making matcha. In the present hyper-connected world, taking a moment for an ippuku of matcha is a chance to step away from the noise, to appreciate the craftsmanship in the tea and the bowl, and to find a moment of quiet connection with ourselves.
Based on the fundamentals of the Kaden-ryū School, founded by Sakagawa Kikuto, Véronique Masurel Joassin will teach an ikebana workshop introducing Japanese floral art through the creation of a simple arrangement that opens the Way of Flowers, Kadō in Japanese.
Instructors:
Mr Masahiro Kinoshita
