Take a pen, write your own story!

Date:  21 Mar 2025 - 8 Jun 2025

Through the juxtaposition of traditional Chinese artefacts and contemporary artworks, the exhibition 8 times 8. storiesseriessystems in mythology & art illustrates the interplay between individual elements within a larger whole by examining various symbols and linked narratives.

In ‘Eight Woodcuts of Figures and Narratives’, dating from the Late Qing dynasty to the early Republican period, the carvings depict scenes from different Chinese folk stories, serving as reminders of virtues and good deeds. Look closely at the figures’ expressions and gestures. What stories are they telling?

If the story’s setting were reimagined and the dialogues of these figures rewritten, what new story would you create? We invite individuals of all ages to unleash their creativity. Write your own story and give new meaning to these traditional scenes.
