Abstract

This talk will delve into Lin Fengmian’s paintings, which were the product of years of artistic experimentation and cross-cultural exchange. These works are more than imitations of other styles; they entail intricate processes of resistance and appropriation that bring about a significant transformation of techniques and aesthetic philosophy. By examining some of the artist’s key works, we can gain a deeper understanding of the complex nature of cross-cultural encounters and appreciate twentieth-century Chinese art in its own distinct context.
