“And there are cows everywhere”
A brief introduction to Swiss paper cutting

日期: 2026年4月15日 - 2026年4月15日

The art of paper cutting has existed in Switzerland for over 250 years. But how did it develop into a distinct style? Initially, artists followed the fashions coming from the Netherlands and Paris and imitated them until the Biedermeier period. Then, in the mid-19th century, a single day laborer forged a style that resonates to this day. In this talk, we trace the story of Swiss paper cutting and explore the criteria that define a truly excellent piece.
