Visiting Rules
MUSEUM FLOOR PLAN
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES
The University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG) reopens on Tuesday, 3 May.
In the interest of public health, UMAG will adopt the following measures :
- Except for exempted persons*, all museum visitors are required to scan the “LeaveHomeSafe” QR code and comply with the requirement of the Vaccine Pass^ before entering UMAG via the G/F Fung Ping Shan Building entrance. (*Exempted persons include those who are aged below 12 and not accompanied by an adult, aged 65 or above, those with disability, and other persons recognised by the Government or organisation(s) authorised by the Government.)
- A temperature check will be conducted upon entry.
- Visitors are required to properly wear their face mask at all times. They are advised to wash their hands and use the hand sanitizer and sink available at the entrance.
- Crowd control measures will be in place; UMAG reserves the right to limit the number of visitors.
- Children under 12 can only enter the museum when accompanied by an adult.
- Disability access is available upon request. Please contact the museum at (852) 2241 5500 three working days prior to your visit.
^Vaccine Pass
- Persons aged 18 or above will need to have received third doses of COVID-19 vaccine unless they have taken the second dose for less than 6 months.
- Children aged 12 to 17 who have received their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine for less than six months, they can still use the Vaccine Pass. If they have received their second dose for at least six months, they are required to receive a third dose to continue to use the Vaccine Pass.
- Children aged 5 to 11 who have received the first dose of the vaccine for more than six months must receive the second dose of the vaccine. If they are still within six months from receiving the first dose, they must receive the second dose before the end of the six-month period.
Exempted scenarios:
- Children under 5 years of age
- Recovered persons previously infected with COVID-19 and within 6 months from recovery. See recovery record QR code here.
- Persons with a certified medical exemption
- Inbound travellers: Arrived in Hong Kong within six months and holding the Provisional Vaccine Pass. Details please click here.
To expedite the process of admission, please download and install the “LeaveHomeSafe”, “iAM Smart” or “eHealth” mobile app in advance and/or store the QR code of a COVID-19 vaccination record or COVID-19 vaccination medical exemption certificate in the app, or carry a paper copy of their COVID-19 vaccination record and/or COVID-19 vaccination medical exemption certificate printed with an encrypted QR code for scanning by museum staff.
UMAG will continue to assess the situation and adjust the relevant preventive measures as necessary.
ADVERSE WEATHER ARRANGEMENT
Museum Opening
- Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above
UMAG will be closed and remain closed if the signal is lowered less than 3 hours before the normal closing time. - Black Rainstorm Warning Signal
If the signal is issued during the normal opening hours, UMAG will remain open. If the signal is issued before the opening hours, UMAG will be closed until the signal is cancelled. If the signal is cancelled less than 3 hours before the normal closing time, UMAG will remain closed.
Arrangements of Museum Programmes
Under the situations as listed below:
a) Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 (or above) is hoisted; or
b) Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 will be issued within two hours as announced by the Hong Kong Observatory; or
c) “Extreme conditions” after super typhoons are in force (announced by the Government before the Hong Kong Observatory replaces Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 with Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3); or
d) Red or Black Rainstorm Signal is in force
I. The following arrangements will apply:
For on-site programmes* not yet started
If any of the warnings or announcements is hoisted or in force at or after 6:00 am | All programmes commencing before 2:00 pm will be cancelled automatically. |
If any of the warnings or announcements is hoisted or in force at or after 11:00 am | All programmes commencing at any time from
2:00 pm and before 6:00 pm will be cancelled automatically. |
If any of the warnings or announcements is hoisted or in force at or after 3:00 pm | All programmes commencing from 6:00 pm onward will be cancelled automatically. |
For on-site programmes* already started
When Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above is hoisted or the No. 8 Signal will be issued within two hours as announced by the Hong Kong Observatory, or “extreme conditions” are in force | All programmes will be suspended immediately.

When Red or Black Rainstorm Signal is hoisted | All programmes, except those held outdoors, will continue.
For outdoor activities, the responsible staff members on the spot should suspend the activities immediately, ensure that all participants are taken to a safe place, and remain there until it is safe for them to return home. |
II. Online programmes
Unless otherwise advised by the organisers, all online activities will continue as scheduled under all weather conditions (including situations (a) to (d) listed above).
Further Notes
Cancelled programmes will be postponed or fees refunded. Programme fees (if any) will be refunded only if there are more than half of the class time left to the original finishing time. UMAG will inform the participants of the arrangement as soon as possible.
When Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 or Amber Rainstorm Signal is in force, it should be assumed that all programmes will be held as scheduled unless an announcement to the contrary has been made by UMAG.
*Refer to, but not limited to guided tours (public or scheduled), workshops, talks, demonstration.

REQUEST GROUP TOUR
Museum curators and volunteers are available to provide guided museum tours for groups of up to seven people. Tours of collection highlights and special exhibitions may be scheduled in English, Cantonese and Putonghua during regular opening hours.
School groups and members of the general public are invited to book customised tours in which guides introduce art and culture to a specific age or interest group. Visitors can also enjoy the exclusive and intimate experience of touring the Museum in private. Corporate clients routinely utilise after-hours tours for corporate entertaining.
