Shiwan wares developed during late Ming(1368–1644) and early Qing dynasty (1644–1911). They were produced from kilns located in the Shiwanzhen Subdistrict of the provincial city of Foshan, near Guangzhou. Shiwan wares comprise of a family of vessels and figures with stoneware bodies with a wide variety of thick, mottled or streaked glazes. Shiwan wares were widely exported to the rest of China and the world.
