The Hong Kong New Music Ensemble wishes to celebrate Beethoven in 2020 by exploring the dimensions of the miniature, the embryonic and the intangible: three short programs feature transcriptions, rarities by the great German master, and works that bear traces of his influence (ranging from Liszt to the The Beatles). The series culminates with the exploration of Beethoven’s compositional sketches and drafts treated as raw material for new music.
All concerts will be followed by an informal Q & A discussion with performers and curators.
