Descriptions in English
Established in the 10th century and active until the late Yuan dynasty (1279 –1368), the Jizhou kilns in Ji’an county were known for imaginative designs and innovative techniques. On these bowls, potters placed paper–cut phoenix and plum blossom designs on an initial layer of black glaze and covered them with brown glaze. The paper cuts were destroyed during the firing, leaving designs in black on the inside of the bowls.
