Descriptions in English
This blue Jun ware bowl is fused to the container, called a saggar, which was meant to protect it during firing. Copper pigments were used in carefully controlled firing conditions to create purple splashes on the blue glaze. Something went wrong during the firing of this vessel, and the result is a striking contrast of elegant bowl permanently joined to its coarse container.
